Donation Drive for The Haven

In the spirit of giving that accompanies the holiday season, Kindness Cafe sponsors a donation drive each November. We’re collecting a variety of daily needs for The Haven, a local day shelter.

Share with neighbors in Charlottesville: So many of us have more than enough while others live with daily needs

Be role models for our children: Shop together. Drop off together. Allow children to ask questions about homelessness, privilege, and need.
Be an active member in our community: Caring together > Caring alone

Because we like to GIVE, everyone who donates to The Haven is entered to win a Kindness sweatshirt. Thanks to a generous Kindness supporter, we’re giving away TEN sweatshirts.

Heavy Hearts

As you likely know, we’re sending this email from Charlottesville with heavy hearts. While tragedy occurs daily near and far, this particular event hit close to home for many of us in the Kindness Community.

Many of us are Charlottesville residents. Many are UVA students, staff, or alum. Many more are moms, dads, brothers, or sisters who recognize this loss as unimaginably devastating.

It’s heartbreaking to see these smiles and to read the individual tributes dedicated to each of these outstanding young men.

We are sending love and care to the families and friends of Lavel Davis, Jr, Devon Chandler and D’Sean Perry as well as others who were injured and impacted by this terrible tragedy.
