It’s National Disability Employment
Awareness Month! Recently I listened to a podcast that asserted that in order to lead a fulfilling life we ought to seek connection, contribution, and challenge. At Kindness when we talk about the importance of meaningful employment, we often highlight these same three needs. We know that having a job can provide more than a paycheck. Employment at Kindness means: Increased social connection - connection to coworkers and to customers A sense of purpose - opportunities to contribute to one’s community Challenge - ongoing learning and growth
While these opportunities are important for all adults, they are particularly valuable for adults with disabilities.
